JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli newspaper reported on Sunday that the national security adviser to President Barack Obama briefed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on emergency U.S. plan to attack Iran if diplomacy fails to curb its nuclear program.

Harel and refused to Walker, a senior aide to Netanyahu comment on the report when asked about it in an interview with Israeli radio station. An Israeli official said by telephone last, "We do not comment on diplomatic interviews and behind closed doors."

Haaretz said that Netanyahu secretly informed of the plan represents the most important effort of senior U.S. officials who visited Israel last month, including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the disbursement of Israel on the implementation of a military strike against Iran for its part.

The report coincided with a visit to Israel by a main challenger to Obama in the presidential elections in November next Republican candidate Mitt Romney, who is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu on Sunday.
