Maliki confirms the need to amend the law of the provinces and calls for the activation of the private sector

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki that “the main reason for the complexity of the work of the provincial councils due to the lack of power of the existing law of the provinces.”

He said al-Maliki in a meeting of the coordination between the central government and provincial councils, which was attended by the correspondent of all of Iraq [where] the day that “the main cause of what is happening now from the complexities in the work of the provincial councils is not to force the law of the provinces current which needs to give a set of amendments to be for provincial councils wider powers. “

He continued that “the provinces need to be qualified and terms of reference shall process of reconstruction and investment as well as activating the role of private sector investment through the provision of facilities and to overcome difficulties,” calling the provincial councils to provide the needed lands to the private sector for investment, provided that these do not land dedicated to another project “.

The Prime Minister explained that “the government has directed the development of infrastructure and investment by shifting work to pay the credit as it happens in developed countries.”

He stressed “the need to keep the validity of the implementation of projects, however, because the ministries of these projects is the benefit of Iraq, not just to maintain.”

The number of members of provincial councils have complained that the current provincial law, seen as restricted to the work of the provincial councils.
