Barzani meets with Jeffrey and Austin
President of Kurdistan region Masoud Barzani on Sunday, at his residence in the resort of Salahaddin in Arbil, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey and Gen. Lloyd Austin, commander of U.S. forces.
According to the president for the region, it is “During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two sides in light of the agreement signed between Iraq and the United States of America.” While “President Barzani the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to serve the common interests of both countries and especially after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of this year.”
For his part, the U.S. delegation “to the U.S. efforts to promote and develop its relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan region,” noted that “the stability and development witnessed by the Kurdistan region has contributed to Have a weight not only in Iraq but throughout the region,” and expressed his thanks to President Barzani to support the work of the United States Consulate in the region.
The two sides reviewed the current situation in the region in general and developments in some Arab countries, as well as to discuss relations between the KRG and the federal government and the ways to address the outstanding problems.
