Riyadh: a senior official said on Sunday that Iraq is seeking to reach an agreement for air defense in partnership with the Arab Gulf States, where he works to secure its airspace after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country this month, said Naseer al-Ani, director of the office of President Jalal Talabani at a conference in the Saudi capital Riyadh Iraq lacks the resources necessary to secure the airspace, as the Iraqi capabilities are limited in this sector.

He added that Iraq hoped that the days are subjected to Iraqi airspace violation by a hostile power are over.
He said that Iraq will depend on the proposal of signing a joint agreement for air defense with the Gulf States does not cover the Iraqi air space alone, but the entire region, and this is what Iraq hoped to be achieved and seeks to achieve.

It was not clear the level at which Iraq put it in his proposal to other countries and the extent to which I went to him any discussions held in this regard and what that might be included an agreement for the common defense.
