Hassan Jihad an MP from the Kurdistan Blocs Coalition (KBC) said the delegation which includes members of all the factions and blocs will participate in a congress for supporting Palestine.

The congress is held while the issue of Palestine membership in the United Nations has caused a great controversy.

Nujaifi is also expected to meet with his Iranian counterpart after the congress.

Iranian bombardments of the bordering territories of the Iraqi Kurdistan region which has concerned the Iraqi and Kurdish officials will also be addressed in the meetings between the delegation and Iranian senior officials.

Iran has been shelling Kurdistan borders since 2006 to destroy the rebel organization PJAK (Party of Free Life for Kurdistan) which has taken hideouts in the mountainous borders between northeastern Iraq and northwestern Iran.

This year the attacks were resumed in mid June. Since then five civilians from Kurdistan have been killed.

Discussing the water crisis is also on the agenda of the visit. Iran has obstructed the flow of some 42 rivers and brooks into Iraq, causing drought in some areas.
