Demand to explain Nujaifi's visit to Turkey - MP

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: White Bloc MP demanded an explanation from the Parliament presidency for the visit of its speaker to Turkey, despite Turkish interventions in Iraqi affairs.

MP Alia Nsaif said , in a statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, "Nujaifi's visit comes in an extraordinary time that witnessed the interventions of Turkish officials in Iraqi affairs, which incited great public concern".

"Though we express our reservation for the visit, we ask Nujaifi to declare rejection to such interventions, in his capacity as parliament speaker", she confirmed.

Turkish premier, in a telephone call with US vice-president Joe Biden, expressed his concern "on the crisis between Sunni and Shiite sects in Iraq", warning that this crisis might lead "to a sectarian war".
