oil minister, Jabbar Luaibi, announced on Sunday that Iraq 's oil reserves rise to 153 billion barrels , compared to previous estimates at 143 billion barrels.
The oil minister said , according to a ministry statement received by all of Iraq [where] a copy of it, that "exploratory activities andreservoir in seven oil fields in central and southern Iraq have contributed to the added amount of 10 billion barrels of oil reserves, bringing to 153 billion barrels after it was 143 billion barrels ".
He stressed that "Iraq will ask OPEC to adopt it."
He predicted Allaibi "high volume of oil reserves of Iraq in the coming years thanks to the ministry's plans and programs for the adoption of ambitious aims to intensify exploration and reservoir activities."
