Prime Minister Haider al - Abadi continues on his current visit to Washington for meetings with senior leaders and US officials on the government side and the legislative.
A statement by his office late last night that Abadi "met in the Capitol building, gathering in support of Iraq, which includes a group of members of the US Houseof Representatives from the Republican and Democratic parties."
Abadi also met with the "majority leader in the US Senate , Mitch McConnell and leader of the minority in the Senate , Chuck Schumer and the leaders of the Senate."
The statement pointed out to meet with the prime minister , "Foreign Relations Committee in the US Senate , headed by Bob Corker."
