A strong earthquake hit the capital on Sunday evening, the capital Baghdad and several provinces including Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Erbil, Diyala, Basra, Najaf and other parts of Iraq.
The US Geological Survey said a 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit large areas ofIraq, including southeast of the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region.
The mosques and Husayniyat of the capital city of Baghdad have risen after the earthquake.
The weather forecasters advised citizens to stay away from buildings and not use elevators in the event of an earthquake.
