Baghdad agrees to raise the proportion of Kurdistan from the budget

The decision of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Ahmed Haj Rashid, Saturday, that Baghdad agreed to increase the share of the Kurdistan region of the budget for the current year to 14%.
"The Iraqi government accepts increasing the percentage allocatedto the Kurdistan region from 12.67% to 14% of the Iraqi general budget, but we do not yet know what the position of the Kurdistan Regional Government of the matter," Haj Rashid said in a statement to some media today, February 24, 2018.
He stressed that they Kurds will continue their efforts to stabilize 17% of the Iraqi budget for the year 2018 for the Kurdistan region, noting that "this is not easy work, especially in the case of acceptance of the demands of the Sunnis in the general budget."
It is noteworthy that the draft law of the Iraqi general budget for 2018, which was approved in the Council of Ministers on the fifth of November 2017, reduced the share of Kurdistan in the general budget from 17% to 12.67% only.
