Legal expert - The Federal Court is not bound by a specific period to ratify the results of the elections

The legal expert confirmed that the Constitution and the law did not bind the Federal Court to ratify the final results of the elections with a specific period of time, indicating that the Constitution and the decision of the Federal Court obliged the blocs to nominate the largest bloc and its candidate in the first session of Parliament or the choice will be tied to the bloc that received the highest votesDuring the elections to present its candidate.

Adel added, "We expect that the Federal Court will not take long to ratify the results because it has a wide discretionary authority and is not punished for its ruling with regard to ratification," pointing out that "after the ratification of the Federal Court, the President of the Republic and according to Article 54 of the Constitution, The first of the new parliamentary session in a maximum of 15 days. "

Adel stressed that "the political blocs will be bound to resolve their understandings on the largest parliamentary bloc and nominate its candidate for the presidency of the Council of Ministers because the Constitution and the decision of the Federal Court in 2010 stipulated the registration of the largest bloc candidate in the first meeting, otherwise, the choice will be tied to the bloc that received the highest votes during the elections to provide Candidate ".

The Electoral Commission announced, on Thursday (August 16, 2018), send the final results of the elections to the Federal Court for approval after the completion of the consideration of appeals.
