The Prime Minister's Office on Monday lied to political media about the siege of Haider al-Abadi and the ministerial delegation in Basra.
"Some satellite channels and news sites have published false news and fabricated or old video clips claiming to besiege the prime minister and the accompanyingministerial delegation in a hotel in the city of Basra," the office said in a statement.
"We categorically deny the validity of these false allegations and call upon the media of political parties to stop this bearish and deceitful approach which is not appropriate for the media and to adopt credibility in the transfer of events."
