The US government warned its Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo that the new Iraqi government would be under Iranian control.
This came in remarks made by Pompeo at a news conference, at the headquarters of the US State Department in Washington, on the recent presidential election andthe process of forming a government in Iraq, quoted by the Reuters news agency.
"I hope to form an Iraqi government that thinks about national unity and the future of the Iraqi people and is not controlled by Iran," Pompeo said.
Pompeo concluded by saying that the source of his country's security threat in Iraq is Iran's allies and arms in Iraq.
