The President of the Republic Barham Salih discussed with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz ways to strengthen in Riyadh, cooperation between the two countries and upgrading them to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
"The meeting witnessed the examination of several files and topics,most notably the activation of cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia in the field of energy, and accelerate the opening of border crossings between the two countries to promote economic and trade relations between them to serve the common interests," a statement from his office said. .
"The two sides stressed the importance of consolidating stability and peace, supporting security and political stability in the region, and working together to reduce the tension and crises facing the region, to give priority to the language of dialogue and unite efforts towards common fate issues," he added.
The two sides also stressed the importance of activating the joint coordination council between the two countries to upgrade relations to the strategic level and open new horizons of cooperation in various fields.
Saleh stressed during the meeting that "the depth of the brotherly and historical relations between Iraq and the Kingdom requires us to move forward in more coordination and joint action, especially the activation of cooperation in the economic, trade and security."
