Statements from Iraqi politicians warn of the danger of taking the step that would put the Iraqi state under the sanctions of US and international to prevent the expansion of Iranian influence across the country.
This is announced by Atheel Nujaifi, leader of the coalitiondecision, yesterday, stressing that with economic revitalization and with any project whose main objective is to support the country economically, but at the same time expressed fears that the linkage of the rail with Iran in the imposition of international sanctions on Iraq.
He said that this project, if used for any non-economic purposes, Iraq will fall directly under the international embargo and sanctions, which will pay the price of the Iraqi people alone.
He called for the development of this project and its trains under the supervision and inspections commensurate with the magnitude of international concerns that see the project as a danger to the Middle East, especially after the warnings of the US announced completion of this project.
