An Iraqi media woman announces candidacy for the US Congress - and says - Is the time to defend America

[Follow-up] Where
the Iraqi media, Dalia Al-Aqeedi, officially announced the candidacy for the US Congress elections for the American Republican Party.
"It is time to defend America," Al-Aqidi wrote in a tweet on Twitter. I am running for Congress because we are not divided like Ilhan Omar and the extreme right makes us believe. I run to bring us closer.

Bloggers reported the news of al-Aqidi's candidacy to Congress, as she was the first Iraqi female journalist to enter the US Congress, while they announced their support.

Dalia Al-Aqeedi is an Iraqi broadcaster and Iraqi media, born in 1968 in Baghdad, and was born in an Iraqi artistic family. In her childhood, she had a tendency to sing, and she became famous for her national song for children, "Ali Ya Tayyar".

She graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad. In 1988, she participated in the play (Desmdona) written by Youssef Al-Sayegh and directed by Ibrahim Jalal, and participated in it in the theater festival of Carthage, and there she and her mother arranged the escape operation out of Iraq in total secrecy for fear of the oppression of the Iraqi regime at that time.

She then traveled to the United States and worked in news stations and programs, and returned to Iraq after the fall of Baghdad in 2003. After the founding of the American Al Hurra channel, Dalia Al-Aqeedi was the channel’s correspondent from the White House, but after her return to Baghdad she became involved in providing political programs and then headed after that in Providing artistic programs that deal with issues of Iraqi artistic heritage that have won the approval and acceptance of many critics and the public.

In 2008, Dalia moved to Lebanon to work on Alsumaria TV as a news anchor and an introduction to some political programs that have a wide audience following her while she is still working on this channel.
