Deputy - Al-Kazemi granted the blocks their stakes in the cabinet to be a quota government

Deputy Badr Al-Ziyadi confirmed, on Saturday, that the Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kazemi granted the political blocs their shares in the cabinet, indicating that the government will be a quota government.

Al-Ziyadi said in a press statement that "the political blocs are almost completely in agreement with the ministerial portfolios, with the Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and the candidates have been decided," noting that "Al-Kazemi granted the blocs their shares in the cabinet, meaning that they will be a quota government."

He added that "there are four remaining ministries that have not yet been decided definitively, namely defense, interior, finance and oil, as there is still disagreement between the blocs over their candidates."

He explained that "in case of inconsistency regarding these ministries, the ministerial cabinet will be presented to Parliament without these ministries",

Noting that "the meetings are still going on to discuss the government formation and some other understandings, and that everyone wants to go towards a strong government that enjoys parliamentary support, so that it has the ability to face the crises that Iraq is going through."

He continued, "Parliament will set the middle of next week a session to vote on the cab," pointing out that "matters so far herald good, especially with the political blocs obtaining their quotas, which means that they will pass the government and will not object to it."

He stressed that "the matter is not settled, as it is not unlikely that the blocs will withdraw from the vote because of some candidates, and other parties, in the event that their ministers may not pass, may withdraw," explaining that "the situation is not easy, and there are no decisive guarantees to pass the cab."

The constitutional deadline for Al-Kazemi to present his government to Parliament to obtain his confidence expires on the ninth of this month, according to the text of the Iraqi constitution, which gave the Prime Minister-designate one month to form his government.
