Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, MP Abdel-Khaleq Al-Azzawi, confirmed on Thursday (07 May 2020) that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi directed the security forces to pursue the cells of ISIS.

Al-Azzawi said in an interview with (Baghdad Today) that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi directed all sectors of the military operations to increase the momentum of tracking ISIS cells, perpetuating operations on the ground, ending any remnants of it, and enhancing the security of the regions."

He added, "The field security scene will witness changes in the battle against ISIS, and we hope that the coming period will be better in terms of security stability and staving off the dangers of terrorism, especially in the liberated areas that have experienced bloodshed in the past months, whether in Diyala or the rest of the provinces."

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, commissioned the head of the intelligence service, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, on the ninth of April of this year, after the apology of the former commissioner, Adnan Al-Zarfi, to form a government and complete the mission.

After that, Al-Kazemi began his consultations with the political blocs, most notably the Sunni, Shi'a, and Kurds, on forming the new government, and discussing the presentation of members of her cabinet.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives set a date for holding a session of confidence-giving for the Al-Kazemi government, and said: The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided to hold a voting session on the ministerial program and the government cabinet on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

Parliament held a voting session late on Wednesday night, headed by Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and attended by 255 deputies, without the presence of the State of Law coalition led by Nuri al-Maliki, the National Alliance led by Iyad Allawi, and a number of deputies of the Sadqoun bloc.

The Iraqi parliament gave confidence to the members of the Al-Kazemi government to the ministers (Defense, Juma Anad, Interior Othman Al-Ghanmi, Finance Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, Planning Khaled Najm, Construction and Housing Nazilin Muhammad, Health Hassan Muhammad Abbas, Electricity Majid Mahdi Ali, Education Nabil Kazem Abdel-Sahib, Transportation Nasser Hussein Bandar, youth and sports, Adnan Darjal, industry Manhal Aziz and communications, Arkan Shihab, Adel Hashush, Minister of Labor, Mahdi Rashid Jassem, Minister of Water Resources, and Hamid Mekhlef, Minister of Education.

Five ministries remained that were not voted on by members of the House of Representatives (trade, agriculture, immigration, the displaced, justice and culture), while voting on the candidates for the foreign and oil ministries was postponed.
