[Erbil-Ain] The
President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed with the American Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Toller today, Tuesday, the situation in Iraq and the developments in the Coruna virus outbreak.
A statement issued by the region’s presidency said, “Barzani discussed with Toler the situationin Iraq, developments in the outbreak of the Corona virus and its economic consequences, the dangers of ISIS movements and the assumption by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi of his duties and endeavors to complete the ministerial formation and strategic dialogue between Iraq and America that is taking place this month.”
The statement pointed out that "Barzani renewed the Kurdistan Region's support for the Al-Kazemi government and wished that the completion of his ministerial cabinet would enable the government to take steps to address the challenges and economic, political and security conditions and confront the Corona epidemic."
He added that "the two sides agreed on the importance of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and America, which will become a framework for relations between Baghdad and Washington, and for this purpose Iraq must define its interests and priorities, noting that during the meeting, emphasis was placed on America's cooperation in supporting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in order to pass The situation and the need to continue supporting the international coalition in the war against ISIS. "
The statement noted that "the internal situation in the Kurdistan region and the importance of helping the parties pass the situation and the role exercised by the region's presidency in this regard and encouraging investment and the private sector in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, were other axes in the meeting that was attended by the US Consul General in Erbil, Steve Vision."
