The Parliamentary Finance Committee criticized the government's actions regarding the 2020 budget and the mechanism according to which it was calculated, in addition to the date of its submission, indicating that the budget should have been submitted more than a month ago.
Committee member Jamal Cougar said to "Where News", "The government prepared the 2020 budget for a full year, and included the months that it spent a budget of 1 out of 12, and this matter is not permissible as it presented it as a dedicated budget."
He added, "The budget for this year was long overdue, as the Finance Committee called on the government in July to submit the budget, but it was late in preparing it."
He explained that “the government, when it was asked last July to hand over the 2020 budget, announced that it is busy preparing the 2021 budget, while the government has sent this year's budget to Parliament at this time, and therefore it is not permissible to legislate any law before a period of two weeks to complete the budget law in Parliament.
