Said representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq Martin Kobler on Monday that the UN is seeking to improve the situation between Iraq and Kuwait to emerge from Chapter VII. “
He said on the sidelines of the ceremony that was held in Baghdad on the occasion of the anniversary of establishment of the United Nations: “The UN will support the development of relations between Iraq and neighboring countries, which will enhance the security and political stability in Iraq.”
And on the Kubler U.S. withdrawal: “The withdrawal of this opportunity for Iraq to prove to the world that a sovereign state which determines the fate.”
On the relations of the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government said Kubler: The UN mission will support the dialogue between the Kurdistan-Baghdad to reach common understandings.
A delegation headed by the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Barham Salih, is expected to arrive this week to Baghdad to discuss the files and the outstanding issues between the province and central government.
The German diplomat Martin Kobler has commenced his duties as President of the United Nations Organization Mission in Iraq earlier this month to replace Dutchman Ad Melkert.
