Erbil, 26 October / October (Rn) – Chairman of the Presidium of the Kurdistan region, on Wednesday, the formation of three joint commissions between Arbil and Baghdad to resolve the outstanding problems between them.
He said Fuad Hussein, Kurdistan News Agency (Rn), that “the meeting of the delegation of Government of the Territory under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Barham Salih, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has resulted in the formation of three joint commissions between Erbil and Baghdad in particular issues of the Peshmerga and the oil and gas law and Article 140 of the Federal Constitution relating to the disputed areas between the two sides. “
The government delegation from Erbil chaired by Prime Minister Barham Saleh had arrived in Baghdad the day before yesterday and held a series of meetings with the prime minister Nuri al-Maliki and the House of Osama al-Najafi to find solutions to the pending files.
Hussein added that “the three committees will have to submit their reports on such matters to the Federal Government and the Government of the Territory”, pointing out that “Maliki said in a meeting with Saleh that by connecting the committees formed an agreement on those issues, the road will be passable to solve them all.”
It was due to visit Baghdad last month in favor of the Kurdistan region in order to visit and sent instead of the government delegation and the delegation held a round of political talks with the leaders of political blocs in Baghdad.
There are several pending issues between Baghdad and Erbil, especially one of the disputed areas and the budget of the Regional Corps (Peshmerga), but the strained relationship surfaced recently, after the rejection of a draft of the Kurdistan Region Oil and Gas Law approved by the Iraqi government.
