GOI Adviser: We have not found the $17 billion in lost; Investigation is still in progress

Baghdad, October 29 / October (Rn) – An adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Saturday, that the amount of $17 billion missing from Iraq’s development fund that did not find a bond exchange, indicating that the investigation of the fate of this money is still in progress.
The U.S. officials have acknowledged last June disappearance of $ 6.6 billion from the fund the reconstruction of Iraq, but Iraqis say that about $ 17 billion in lost and stolen by American institutions.
He said Fadhil Mohammed Jawad, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn), “The Sub-Committee which was formed recently, which includes the Office of Financial Supervision, and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance, in addition to the American side, is still conducting an investigation on the fate of 17 billion dollars.”
Mohammed Jawad said that “the money lost from the Development Fund for Iraq was not found on the bills of exchange was not to know who spent it,” adding that “the expenses of the Fund must be known bonds.”
