Salehi, Iran's leading mediation between Maliki and Barzani

A parliamentary source familiar with the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, began a visit to Iraq yesterday, where he was officially greeted at the airport in Baghdad, to try to resolve the dispute that has worsened recently between Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani.
The source said that the arrival of Salehi to Baghdad came after a visit by Barzani to Tehran, during which he asked to intervene to resolve disputes between Iran and Kurdistan, Maliki, particularly with regard to the oil law.
The source said that Tehran has responded to the request of Barzani and the foreign minister's visit with Iraqi assets, to Baghdad would aim to start reconciliation talks between the region's president, who accused Maliki exclusivity power, and the prime minister, who insisted on the control file of the oil and energy alone.
But the source said that Iran has begun compromise between Arbil, the mediation with al-Maliki, and file party, PJAK Kurdish opposition to Tehran and the taking of Sulaymaniyah, Erbil-based. The source said that Tehran stressed the need to halt the activities of the Barzani Kurdish party that, as a condition to stop the Iranian shelling of Kurdistan, and to soften Maliki's position from the province.
