Said David Lipton, First Deputy Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund said on Friday that the rise in oil prices represents a new threat to the global economy and that it should monitor the situation in Iran closely.
Lipton told a meeting of officials from the Group of Twenty in Mexico City “There’s a new threat on the horizon .. or maybe he was not on the horizon, perhaps even ahead of us directly .. It is high oil prices.”
“The situation in Iran represents a threat we have to keep in our minds.”
