The statement added that “intensive consultations between the two countries led to an agreement between them on the arrangements for dealing with outstanding issues including the issues of missing persons and the return of property and the National Archives and the issue of financial compensation to the State of Kuwait, which was agreed on the mechanism to solve and processed under the supervision of the United Nations.”

The Security Council voted unanimously to exit Iraq from Chapter VII, and referral of cases relating to Chapter VI, the Council decided to end the measures provided for in some paragraphs of the UN resolutions 686 and 687 adopted by the Council in 1991 after Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.
