Iraq asks UN permanent members for their support to get Iraq out of Chapter VII
Asked Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council to support Iraq’s request to get out of Chapter VII, stressing Iraq’s desire to fulfill all its obligations towards the Security Council.
This came during a meeting with the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the Security Council accredited to Iraq, where it reviewed Zebari during the meeting Iraq’s efforts and support UN Security Council members have to get out of the provisions of Chapter VII in the areas of disarmament, weapons of mass destruction and the penal system and the siege and oil for food program, Zebari stressed that the rest of the international resolutions concerning the situation between Iraq and Kuwait.
Zebari asked the ambassadors of the five permanent members support Iraq’s request to get out of one of the provisions of Chapter VII on the termination of the mandate of the Special Coordinator for Missing and Kuwait and the transfer of property from Chapter VII to Chapter VI.
And stressed that Iraq is committed bilaterally or through the UN mission UNAMI, to continue research and detection for the remaining of the missing persons and property and through bilateral cooperation and the field with Kuwait.
He also stressed Iraq’s desire to fulfill all its international obligations towards the Security Council, is also keen to maintain Iraqi national interests.
