Erbil, October 27 (Rn) – the head of the President of the Kurdistan region said on Thursday that Baghdad and Arbil have reached positive results and agreements on the issues of oil and gas, and the salaries of the Peshmerga forces and Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution.

Said Fouad Hussein, a member of the delegation of the Kurdistan region to Baghdad to resolve the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the delegation of Kurdistan headed by Prime Minister Barham Saleh held a meeting yesterday evening with the President of the Federal Government Nuri al-Maliki, to discuss the mechanism to address problems the relationship between Baghdad and Erbil. “

He said, “it was to reach positive results to address three basic problems between the two sides are the salaries of the Peshmerga forces, and Article 140 of the Constitutional Act, the oil and gas.”

He said Hussein, saying that “the two sides agreed to hold a series of meetings during the next two months between the Ministers of Iraqi oil, and natural resources of Kurdistan, and, if necessary, will make amendments to the draft law of oil and gas in 2007 with the consent of both sides, and if the meeting will yield positive results will be sent the draft Act of 2007 as to the House of Representatives. “

And on the budget of the Peshmerga, Hussein said that “the Joint Committee which was formed between Arbil and Baghdad, regarding the budget of the Peshmerga has prepared a package of proposals will be submitted to the Prime Minister of Iraq, governs the approval of the Prime Minister of the federal allocation of funds for the Peshmerga until a law on this issue.”

He noted that “al-Maliki said that in the event the Commission has reached regarding the budget of the Peshmerga to the satisfactory outcome of the matter does not have a problem in this regard.”

With regard to Article 140 of the permanent Iraqi constitution, the head of the Presidium of the region that “the Iraqi Council of Ministers will decide to cancel the decisions of the Revolutionary Command Council issued about making changes in the demographic areas covered by article 140 constitutional.”

The delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government had gone to Baghdad on October 24 being chaired by Prime Minister Barham Saleh, accompanied by Chairman of Presidium of the province Fouad Hussein, and ministers of the Peshmerga, finance, natural resources, in order to talk about resolving the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil.
