Maliki Adviser: the prime minister’s visit to Washington expected the beginning of a new era of relations between the two countries

Media adviser to Al-Maliki, said Ali al-mousowi, the visit of the prime minister, Nouri Al-Maliki, to Washington in 12 next month, is at the invitation of US President Barack Obama.

He clarified that the visit comes after the success of the implementation of the security agreement signed between Baghdad and Washington and to enter a new stage of relations based on common interests and respect for sovereignty.

He added that Iraq and the United States signed a strategic framework agreement on long-term includes cooperation in peaceful areas and Iraq looks forward to start the implementation of the agreement.

The government had made it clear in a statement on Saturday that Al-Maliki’s visit comes within the framework of deepening the relations of friendship and cooperation and common interests between the two countries. The statement said that the prime minister expressed his satisfaction with the success of the two countries in the implementation of the agreements signed between them, in addition to تثمينه all the sacrifices and efforts that have been made to support Iraq and helping it to overcome difficulties and achieve full sovereignty. The White House confirmed yesterday, Al-Maliki’s visit, said in a statement issued by the White House that he would discuss with Obama in deepening the strategic partnership.

Iraq, Washington took place at the end of the Year (2008) agreements, the first security include a timetable for troop withdrawal in two phases, the first cities were mid-June (June 2009), and the second is complete withdrawal by the end of 2011, the second agreement (SOFA) and the long-term cooperation in diplomatic, economic and trade and cultural.
