Iraq wins seat to head the World Health Org (WHO) – Eastern Mediterranean region
Erbil, October 3 / October (Rn) – The Iraqi Health Ministry on Monday won the post of Iraq’s representation WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region.
This came as part of the coronation of the 58th session of the Regional Committee for the World Health Organization, held in Cairo, which was attended by some 22 ministers of health of countries of the Eastern Mediterranean in addition to the Director-General of WHO Margaret Chan.
The Health Ministry said in a statement posted on its website that the candidate of former Iraq Minister Aladin Alwan, won the post of representative of the Middle East in the World Health Organization.
Alwan and won after the expiration of the period due to Hussein Gezairy of Saudi Arabia, the two courses, according to the rules of procedure of the organization.
And competed for the nomination of Yemen, Syria, Egypt and Pakistan, according to estimates, was the favorite candidate is the candidate, followed by Iraq, Pakistan, Taj El-Din, the statement said.
