Some private banks finance al Qaeda organization – MP

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The head of the Parliamentary Ahrar bloc Baha’ al-Araji disclosed today that information is available indicating that some private banks are financing armed groups and al-Qaeda organization, pointing out that his bloc hosted the governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Sinan al-Shibibi to discuss the situation of the Iraqi economy following U.S. forces withdrawal.

In a press conference at the Parliament, attended by Aswat al-Iraq, al-Araji confirmed the information.

He added that the meeting with Shibibi discussed the possibility of distributing portions of oil revenues to Iraqi citizens, in addition to private bank and exchange offices.
